Patient COVID-19 update 19 August 2021

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TREATMENT AT OUR CLINIC
NSW is fighting the most troublesome outbreak of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. To ensure our health system can cope with this rapidly escalating situation, NSW Health has made the tough decision to redeploy available health care experts to the COVID fight. As a result, all non-urgent surgical activities have been postponed in all public and many private hospitals across the Greater Sydney Region, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong.
This means that Westmead Fertility Centre and some other IVF clinics will be temporarily unable to start any new IVF / ICSI cycles. All Westmead Fertility Centre patients currently in an active IVF/ICSI cycle will be able to have an oocyte (egg) pick-up (OPU) procedure and complete treatment.
Westmead Fertility Centre will continue to offer Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycles.
We understand this news will be very upsetting for our patients who were planning on starting a cycle over the coming period. Please know that the Westmead Fertility Centre team will do everything we can to resume our full suite of services just as soon as we are permitted by NSW Health. In the meantime, we will do what we can to support our colleagues in NSW Health as they continue this critically important battle with COVID-19 for the safety of us all.
Our team is here for you.  Please take care and contact our team through the Patient Portal if you need additional support or to access our counselling services.
