Holiday season clinic closure 2023
Westmead Fertility Centre will be closing for the holiday season at 2:00 pm Wednesday 20 December 2023 and will reopen at 7:30 am Tuesday 2 January 2024. We will have a very limited team working over the holiday period.
Patients in active treatment on 20 December will be able to access the clinic after this date to complete their cycle.
If you are experiencing pain, severe nausea or abdominal bloating after egg collection (OPU), or pain or bleeding in early pregnancy please present to your nearest emergency department.
Registered patients requiring contact with our team during the clinic closure can do so by submitting a message via your Patient Portal. Response time will be slower than usual due to public holidays and our limited staffing over this time.
Starting a cycle in early 2024
We encourage any patients considering treatment in early January 2024 to contact our team via your Patient Portal before Wednesday 20 December 2023 to discuss your individual situation and to ensure you have all your pre-treatment requirements arranged before the holiday period begins. Details of the status of your pre-treatment requirements can be found in your Patient Portal.
Where applicable, it is also important that you have your prescriptions to hand, and medications organised, ahead of time. Westmead Hospital’s Terry White Chemmart will be closed from 4:00 pm Friday 22 December 2023 and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024. Other local pharmacies can assist you with your medication requirements if you provide them sufficient time to order for you.
Starting an OPU cycle in 2024
If you would like to commence a Fresh Egg Collection cycle (IVF/ICSI) in early 2024, we can attempt to coordinate this if your period arrives on or after Tuesday 2 January 2024. Please log your day 1 on your Patient Portal on or after this date.
Starting a Frozen Embryo Transfer cycle in 2024
The ability to start a Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycle in early 2024 will depend on the arrival date of your period and the length of your natural cycle. If you hope to commence an FET cycle in early 2024, please log your Day 1 via your Patient Portal, and we will contact you for a discussion at the appropriate time. To permit an appropriate review by our team, please ensure that you complete all the required information in the Patient Portal Day 1 form.
